I just bought a very clean low mileage 1984 F150 short box.. every thing works and works great..
I have one, I hope minor issue.. the truck is all original 302 and automatic

When you first start truck the first few min of driving it almost dies when trying to accelerate from a dead stop.. any tips or things to look at would be greatly appreciated. [you do not want to pull into traffic]

I do believe this is a minor issue already checked for intake leak..

Low mileage can be tough on a carburetor. Dry rotted parts, plugged pin holes, etc. Id start with a new fuel filter(s) and rebuild the carb for the long haul.

got a new fuel filter yet to install, have checked for vac leaks, the carb may be the issue if filter doesn't fix..

ya ide start with the basics. new fuel filter, plugs, and a good shot of carb cleaner in the carb. you may want to go ahead and order a carb rebuild kit, like metioned above, and go ahead abd rebuild it. probably needs it anyways. and a ultrasonic works wonders cleaning this small parts in a carb.

Only when its cold? When it's warmed up no acceleration problem, runs fine, idle smooth, etc. ?????
If so check/adjust the choke. Hopefully the previous owner hasn't screwed with it or messed up any of the linkage to badly.

Worst case, carb kit and junkyard trip to locate missing/damged linkage.

edit to add:

I've got nothing going on today....bring beer.

Easiest fix would be a new Eldebrock carb, for reliability and ease of repair.
