Referenced earlier on another post is the usefulness of salt and sugar. Their uses vary considerably yet are super cheap in bulk. Other examples include white vinegar, bleach, various alcohols and such. What are your thoughts? Any preps to add?

Bleach is a great prep...liquid bleach has a shelf life of about a year...better to keep some poolshock and make liquid as needed

I have a few pounds of powdered sodium hypochlorite instead of bleach - longer term shelf life

Peroxide, can be used for many things. I bought allot of Powered Milk the kind the airlines would serve us in the military in the 1970's, last forever and you never know when a baby is in need of Milk in a suit but the fan situation.

Keep at least one 45 bullet in case things get unbearable.

Don't forget the family pets, they can bring cheer in a difficult situation, protection / alarm, and it'll be demoralizing for the family if you can't support them.

Eye protection, steel toed boots, tough jackets and gloves. Even chainsaw chaps. Much better to prevent injury than try to work through the 'your eyes; how to remove foreign objects' or 'suturing at home' self help books, that's if you can still read after getting sprayed in the face with something nasty.

Getting injured presents a lot of challenges, not just physical, but emotional as well.
