Scholarship players are forced to play because of their financial obligations. If Stetson Bennett was still not on scholarship he could pack his gear and go home for the Christmas break like the other walk on's can do.

So A&M wussed out of the gator bowl (leaving them scrambling) due to a 'shortage of scholarship players'. And the committee has ruled you can win the championship by forfeit.
What a cluster.
