I've always abided by this rule, but I have an honest hypothetical question about it....if it was partially by text and we screen shot the texts and send it to the party that we were dealing with in a pm... then wouldn't it be just as enforcable??

I suppose if it's in a text and the other party acknowledges their agreement to the terms shown.
Just verify everything in a PM.
"Please verify that I'll meet you at 'x' place at 'y' time, to purchase/sell the 'z' item for $xx dollars."
One sentence and everybody is on the same page.

If they replied via PM confirming those details, then sure.

I tell them that I will paste a screen shot of all texts exchanged in a PM and they will then a knowledge and confirm the texts via PM before a meet is arranged and that the meet will be arranged and agreed upon by PM. That usually deters them from texting or it covers my a**!

I prefer pm for deals. I will text but always send the final deal in pm and get a confirmation
