Do you double clutch when you shift gears?

I think I tried to double clutch my Suncoast tranny one night in my Cummins...maybe that's why I blew it...twice.... I heard Bruce Jenner double clutches his tranny....

You only really need to DC on a non syncro.

Bringing up the engine speed to match the trans speed is just standard when downshifting. Less wear and tear on the whole drive train. I generally dont downshift when coming to a stop. Easier and cheaper to replace the brakes. Only downshift when making a turn. I put 274,000 miles on one work pickup truck and it still had the original clutch when they replaced it with a newer truck.

I wish I had my '69 Midget back. Had a non syncro first gear but it was no problem.

Not in the last 20 years on the street. The new performance autos actually use a conventional clutch, just electronically controlled. Much faster than you can shift manually. Some even have 2, one on 1, 3, 5 and the other on 2, 4, 6. They preselect the next ratio and just engage one clutch and disengage the other for an almost instantaneous shift.

Talking of which, whose's ever driven a manual with a preselector gearbox ?
