Brunswick Stew

I've been reading about Brunswick Stew for 2 days now and it's all I can think about. I tried this recipe but instead of canned chicken, I used a rotisserie chicken. AND, I added potatoes! I don't have 3 days to cook dinner, this was pretty good.

Some nitwit on a cooking site call this 'Brunswick stew'. WTF are they from? Virginia?

I saw something like the above plopped down in front of me in a "bbq joint" in Jacksonville, FL a few years ago.
My reaction?

Can someone explain to a northern what is traditional Brunswick Stew?
If you read this thread long enough, you will learn that there is no such thing. Recipe is not a word that is commonly used for the old timey Brunswick Stew. People who cooked it were often poor. They used ingredients that were commonly available....usually home grown or hunted. Availability of foodstuffs varied from season to season and household to household.

Brunswick Stew is much like BBQ sauce in the south....it is difficult to find two people who will agree on one selection as "the best".
