Anyone else been burned by "Hogleg Smith"?

I think there's a lesson to be learned.

I wouldn't take my Hummer H3 to a Mercedes specialist, and one probably shouldn't take a brand new semi-automatic handgun to what sounds like a revolver/cowboy action specialist. Now, of course, the guy should have told you he couldn't do the work right or outsourced it to another smith, but everyone needs to do their due diligence. Always receive quotes and receipts in person before having work performed and stipulate in the contract that you should be contacted if something else needs to be done aka a price increase.

When SIG finishes the repairs, I'd personally file a small claims case and try to recoup my money since he is responsible for the damage. Would be even better if you can get SIG to supply you with a written letter stating that.

Just got the word from Sig Sauer gunsmith about the P938....Going to cost me $250 for a NEW FRAME.

Hogleg botched up the trigger pin and internals badly enough they cannot repair it. Gunsmith said the work done on it was a real "hack job"....his words.

I took Hogleg a brand new gun and now it will cost me over $375 just to get it back to the condition it was in when I took it to hogleg!!!

That is 2/3 of the cost of the gun new.....not to mention the extra parts he ruined and my time and gas traveling to his shop.

Now I am pissed....

You boys can play with Neal "hogleg" Spruell all you want....

You buddies of his can extol his "great" gunsmithing all you want...

HE IS A HACK AND SHOULD NOT BE TRUSTED WITH A QUALITY FIREARM. End of Story.
Thanks for the warning and info.. I really hate it for you. This is good info for us.
