The pen that signs into law that chips away the underbelly of the second amendment?

Being unaware, ignorant and complacent will not fare well for the citizens of our land.

The overt threat or who is:

The Joyce Foundation a charity organization (over $760 million in assests) has paid over $12 million to gun control groups.

Follow the money. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:JoyceFoundationGunControlFundingR1.png

Link to: http://www.joycefdn.org/programs/gun-violence-prevention/

They directly fund and support higher level education (college etc.) and help support education departments who “research” gun violence. The issue is that these professors and college departments are typically biased and their funding is tied to anti-gun organizations. Their survival depends on their research and the money they can obtain.

This research is used at the government level to support gun control measures and enact laws at all levels of government. The “statistics” are typically skewed to reflect the huge damage gun violence does to our country. Never a word about the positive effects of gun ownership as that does not support the agenda.

Take note their tactics are spelled out for those willing to listen.

A. Public Education and Engagement
B. Supporting Law Enforcement
C. Policy-Orientated Research

The CDC has published articles on describing gun violence in terms akin to a disease that needs treatment. The reports published in prominent medical journals/newspapers have been questioned by critical thinkers and questions of biases reporting and out right puffery were made and in my opinion and others convincingly so. The CDC has been collecting data since 2002 for National Violent Death Reporting System (NVDRS). The Joyce foundation is very interested in this program, far too interested to ignore it. The Joyce Foundation spells out their approach:

•Identify and support promising research projects to evaluate policies and practices to reduce gun violence.
•Encourage dissemination of research and data to build public support for policy reform.
•Support training to public health officials and researchers on use of NVDRS data.
•Promote NVDRS success stories; work to encourage expansion of NVDRS.

NVDRS is a tax payer funded data site that may incur outside influences. I don’t know if the CDC can accept grants but if outside money is accepted then this brings into question bias once again and it’s not the first time. However there are like-minded professionals that are employed there and are involved in the reporting process that may influence bias.

Since 1972, the Joyce Foundation has awarded approximately $555 million in grants.

Previous notable board members include US President Barack Obama who served on the board from 1994 through 2002 (8 years of service).

The violence Policy Center (VPC):

Is a national 501(c)(3) corporation and government lobbyist working to tighten the regulation of firearms and archery equipment in the United States, especially in relation to gun politics. Founded in 1988, the VPC approaches violence and firearms violence in particular, as a public health issue affecting the whole population, rather than solely a criminal matter.

Since 2003, the Joyce Foundation has paid grants totaling over $12 million to gun control organizations. The largest single grantee has been the Violence Policy Center, which received $4,154,970 between 1996 and 2006, and calls for an outright ban on handguns, semi-automatic and other firearms, and substantial restrictions on gun owners.

They give insight to their vision by evaluation of state gun laws. Here is Georgia, reflect a second to observe its layout which details the avenues of approach for this significant threat.

Georgia does not:

•Require a background check prior to the transfer of a firearm between private parties;
•Prohibit the transfer or possession of assault weapons, 50 caliber rifles, or large capacity ammunition magazines;
•Limit the number of firearms that may be purchased at one time;
•Impose a waiting period on firearm purchases;
•Regulate unsafe handguns (“junk guns” or “Saturday night specials”);
•Regulate ammunition sales;
•Allow local governments to regulate firearms; or
•Provide local governments with the discretion to deny concealed weapons permits.

Next up and the biggest threat today

Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG):
Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG) is a coalition of over 600 mayors (last report was under 400) who support a number of gun control initiatives that the group calls "commonsense reforms" to fight illegal gun trafficking and gun violence in the United States.

New York’s mayor Bloomberg is the largest funder of the group, having contributed $3 million. Eli Broad contributed $750,000 and the Joyce Foundation contributed $1.1 million. Mayor Michael Bloomberg of the media giant Bloomberg LP with over 22 billion in assets has spearheaded the anti-gun agenda and has done so brilliantly. He directly or indirectly supports “research”. He funds the “Bloomberg-John Hopkins Public Health Education Department” and they in turn create research that is published and has been used to sway both citizen and politician alike. With most of the propaganda that he and the Joyce foundation funded he endeared his organization to numerous mayors in America cities. With the mayors he also won the city’s police chiefs. The city police chief position is more a political one, is generally the highest paid law enforcement position and is a position appointed by the city mayor. Mayor Bloomberg as a media giant owns well-known media outlets of approximately 350 newspapers and magazines worldwide, including The Economist, The New York Times and USA Today. He has a strong influence what is published and generally accepted as truth. He has the power to change perception and is doing so to the risk of America’s rights.

Objectives:
1) Repeal the Tiahrt Amendment

From Honorable Tiahrt;
"The mayors would have you believe that law enforcement supports giving them the information on gun traces because many of their employees--namely police chiefs, who often serve at the pleasure of the mayor--have publicly backed their coalition,”

2) Close the "Gun Show Loophole".

Enact law making “private” sales between honest citizens illegal

3) Close the "Fire Sale Loophole".

Enact law preventing federally licensed firearm dealers who quit their business or have their licenses revoked by the ATF are allowed to transfer their remaining inventory to their "personal collections" and subsequently sell these firearms without conducting background checks on purchasers or keeping records of sale.

4) Close the "Terrorist Watch List Loophole"

The federal list made up without due law process is ran by bureaucrats and upon a whim could place a person or group (veterans) on the watch list and deny them their rights without due process. But that would never happen, right?

MAIG wants all listed prevented from gun purchases period. Currently the DOJ has the discretion to block sales to 'terror suspects' and permit judicial review of these decisions.

5) Require Background Checks for All Employees of Licensed Gun Dealers.

6) Oppose the "Thune Amendment".

A law to allow interstate travel of honest citizens with concealed carry permits to travel freely from home to other states with similar laws to allow concealed carry, it was narrowly defeated by a filibuster in the Senate in 2009.

7) Require the Reporting of Lost and Stolen Guns.

The organization is anti-gun but won’t state that publically. They oppose any pro-gun bills and promote any anti-gun bills or assist in pushing them through the legislative process.

This is off their web page (CBS NEWS):

“Featuring a clip from an al Qaeda propaganda video, in which American-born terrorist Azzam al-Amriki touts the ease with which "You can go down to a gun show at the local convention center and come away with a fully automatic assault rifle without a background check," Mayors Against Illegal Guns urges Americans to call their representatives in Congress to support stronger regulations.”

There are numerous threats to legal, responsible gun ownership, and in no particular order:

As the adage goes “keep your friends close but keep your enemies closer” bears fruit when addressing these extremely well-funded, organized, educated, political organizations. To simply remain ignorant and “it won’t ever happen here” or “come and try to take them” will not be sufficient. Know your enemy, understand his tactics and if able be critically aware his avenue of approach. Freedom is not free and there is continued work to be done. Remain complacent and you will quickly find yourself a subject in the republic. More worrisome is the covert threat that strives to remain unseen.

If I'm incorrect or something should be added then please, constructive criticism is welcomed.

That is all gentlemen.

Excellent information.

More of a public service announcement as I'm sure (like I was) many are unaware.

Question to the readers; The VPC has given a grade report of "D" to Georgia for our lax and poor gun control laws. Which states received an A/B rating? Also how does that correlate to actual crime rates?

Hint; find this and your on the right path.

"Because our federal gun laws are so weak, states can play a critical role by adopting laws to protect communities from gun violence. While some states have enacted a number of strong laws, others have far too few laws on the books. Learn about the gun laws in every state, or see how your state compares to others across the country."

•Requires all gun sales to be processed through a licensed dealer, requiring a background check;
•Requires gun dealers to obtain a state license;
•Bans most assault weapons and 50 caliber rifles, and prohibits the sale or transfer of large capacity ammunition magazines;
•Requires handgun purchasers to obtain a license, after passing a written test;
•Regulates gun shows;
•Limits handgun purchases to one per person per month;
•Prohibits the sale of “unsafe handguns” not on the roster of approved handguns;
•Imposes a ten-day waiting period prior to the sale or transfer of a firearm;
•Maintains permanent records of firearm sales;
•Gives local law enforcement discretion to deny a license to carry a concealed weapon; and
•Gives local governments authority to regulate firearms and ammunition, although the state legislature has expressly removed this authority in certain areas.

Another hint

Have you noticed that the questionnaire that you have to fill out at your doctor's office now includes a question asking if there are any firearms at the patient's home? That information will soon be reported to the federal government as part of Obamacare. I wonder if someday they might refuse healthcare coverage if you have a weapon in the home? That seems to fit Obama's modus operandi.

The group that I used a few years ago had that question..............I put the paperwork that I had already filled out in my pocket and took the rest of the paperwork up to the class, set it down and walked out. I found out later that the Dr that I saw left the group the same week. I now see him again at his own practice, he is a gun nut also. That question and how he said it was used was one of the reasons he left the group.

You have a choice not to use the Dr or group that asks those stupid questions.
