shootout with the BATFE in AR

What time was the raid? If it was predawn and the guy was sleeping and was startled with his door kicked in, I doubt he had much choice. But maybe that was by design…

6am

The warrant is now online. They were investigating him for dealing without a license.

Posted link in other thread about this.

no way the higher up ATF office jockeys would put their field agents in unnecessary harms way for a good headline

Yeah as much as some of us envision the John Wick/Robert McCall/Tyler Rake outcome if we were to ever face huge odds or a trained team those are movies and the hero wins because he is supposed to. Not saying that you may not take someone with you but the end would not likely be positive for you. Guess it's all a measure of, yet again, what you are willing to kill and/or die for.
That's the whole idea, you take some with you. As this outcome increases in frequency, the number of government thugs in costume willing to do it will decrease.

Sure way to win a case, is to be sure the suspect fires a gun…

I mean he’s a gun nut, a criminal gun nut, so what exactly did they expect?

Edit: this was not a “no knock” warrant.

well said, they also look at it as a win win if the owner shoots at ATF agents im sure. Get a good headline " ATF Raid results in shootout with suspected arms dealer in Arkansas, ATF Agent injured but expected to recover" looks like they are stopping crime by getting at the source but in reality this dude probably had purchased a piece of plastic or potentially possesses something the ATF doesn't deem legal anymore today.

If this guy was really a threat, why wouldn't they just snatch him while he's at work, conducting the house warrant simultaneously. He's not some street thug the dude works a 9-5. Its basic cop work but then again, we have to remember who we are talking about

No knock warrants are very rare these days and are seldom used anymore only being issued for extreme situations mainly because they are just outright dangerous for everyone involved. Comes as no surprise that ATF is still using them.

It's all about the headlines and look at us we are doing a good job, give us a higher budget next year, etc
Yeah and feds doing their $&$ on our taxpayers dime. Yet our borders is unsecured Mexico & China sending drugs across our border FBI AtF & other agencies today have became tools of power for which every political party is in power
