Can't go wrong with an old CJ7. Mine's not practical for daily driving, it's great for days like today though. Find your self a decent CJ w/ a 258, slap some 33's on it and a winch. You now have a no BS 4x4.
I love my FJ Cruiser and they can be had pretty reasonable…it has gone all over creation in this bad weather (snow/ice) has a ton of aftermarket support and the ability to lock the rear diff..
It is quite the off road machine!!
how long did it take you to get used to all the blind spots?
cool.. I drove one when they first came out and couldn't get used to it, have always had pickup or jeeps.. I have heard they are great vehicles though..I have driven trucks with camper tops my entire life….so I was pretty used to it….there are a few times when it can be a hassle but I have pretty good mobility in the truck and get to where I can see what I need to see to navigate…I put 3" Fisheye mirrors on the side view mirrors and use them A LOT..but I do the same thing with my previous trucks with camper tops...
I drove it cross country this summer pulling a camper to the Rocky Mtn National Park, Tetons, Yellowstone, Badlands, etc…and never had an issue.
