How to properly polish a Colt pistol

Will it fit in your media tumbler where you polish your brass cases for reloading?

Edited to add: It probably won't fit as-is, but like most people in this situation you're free to cut 2 inches off the barrel. An angle grinder with a diamond tip cutting wheel should do the trick. (people do this all the time; a lot of stuff that needs to get polished won't fit in the tumbler bin.)

Yep. It sticks out too far. A die grinder you say?

You should think ahead! Now you aren’t going to have a front sight unless you tape or glue it back on!

You could have just drilled a hole in the tumbler for the barrel to poke through, sealed with chalk and tumbled that way. You could have then stuck just the barrel in from the top and did the entire pistol! Much cleaner job than cutting the barrel.

I guess you could make something good out of a bad situation by using this opportunity to add sharp points to the end of the barrel like a tactical flashlight to dress the pistol up.
