Yeah...the notch in the front and the rubber band launcher???? It usually just super-speeded it in to whatever it would have crashed into in the first place.... :0)

I used to tape firecrackers on em and have a real like dogfight with 2 of em blowing in the air, wings flying off smoking, was a hoot to a lad in the 50's.

And the version with the wind up propeller driven by a rubber band. Then they went to plastic. Just not the same as balsa wood.

Yep. I had all of the variations. Also had a "soaring Sam"? May not be the right name but it was made out of styrofoam and had a 3 ft wingspan.

They usually ended up on the roof or gutter before the end of the day. My favorite time of the year was when the JC Penny and Sears catalog came out. Hours of drooling over the few guns in there. And endless hours of looking at the models in Bras and panties. lol Then the catalog became a target for the pellet rifle.

I use to do stuff just like this when I was a kid. Its crazy to think kids now can not even have access to most things without blowing their hands off or lighting themselves on fire.
