Anyone run plate carrier in 3 gun?

Just curious- do you piss in every thread or just the ones I read?

Yes. I use my crystal ball to find all the threads you are going to look at, and I post something that will annoy you.

BTW It also lets me see you when you're surfing porn, and your technique could use work. :p

Is is odd in the 2nd posted video that the fellow handles and clears the rifle while the shooter and RO are forward of the firing line and his position? Never shot 3 gun, but in pistol matches no one handles a gun while humans are down range? Maybe a dumb question but please school me.

its pretty common in the 3 gun matches I've shot… note the rifle stays in the barrel pointed towards the ground. if people are proactive with clearing weapons/ pasting targets those matches can last FOREVER.

Anyone run or seen 3gun with tactical/plate carrier set up in club matches? Obviously not the fastest, but for general fun and training purposes, why not?
I mean, it's called Tac Ops, right?

i used a plate carrier my first few matches. just get a couple california comp works shell caddy to wear on your belt. i use a battle belt system now and it works just fine. i usually finish in the top 25 percentile or better overall not including the different class just overall.

Not unheard of then. Yeah, I'm sure the battle belt is a heck of a lot cooler. I might go that route if I enjoy the first couple matches. Thanks!

Even without return fire , yesterday's match at GMSA was a BLAST! The plate carrier actually worked out well. I went with a twelve round panel on top of a three mag pouch (with only two mags) and a slide-on shell carrier on the stock of my 870. The 4 rd tube was the biggest hinderance as it forced two reloads instead of just one on several stages. Actually, I only hit the 90sec par on one stage, which was NOT due to the shotgun (2 hits on 10in steel @ 200yrds with a 3MOA 1x red dot is quite the challenge!).

For anyone thinking of trying 3 gun in a low stress environment, GMSA puts on a great match. With 17 shooters split into two squads, there was plenty of time to walk the newbies like me through the proper procedures of 3 gun. You can feel free to run what you brung as the equipment ran the gamut from entry pumps and irons to top tier auto-loaders and CQB variable topped AR's.

The only thing I WOULD suggest is a cart to move from stage to stage with muzzle down. I made due with a double rifle case on portable hand trucks. That was serviceable but a bit of a PITB. Most guys had thrift-store jogging strollers with inexpensive ATV gun racks attached. I'm already making plans for mine.
