Why do folks post "PM Sent" for offers less than asking?

It is difficult for me not to negotiate all deals... In my blood....
When I post "I'll take it"... for me means I will pay the asking price....
PM Sent... It will be less than asking.... Don't think I have ever thrown out "low ball offers".... This is never me intention

I get what you are saying, but many people don't view "PM Sent" the same. When I first joined this site (the first forum I ever actually posted/interacted in), I saw PM sent many times on items, and then SPM afterwards. This made me think "PM Sent" was the same as an "I'll take it" and I would move on to try and find another deal. I thankfully I caught on after a figuring out this was not the case, but I think this happens a lot to others (probably not the majority, but a good few). Hell, I posted "3...2...1..." In a smoking deal ad I couldnt afford and the OP thought I was buying and sent me a PM asking if I really wanted it because he had 3-4 others wanting to buy right then...lol

I don't think it's necessarily negative attention to post PM sent. Hell, it may detract some folks away.

Also, If someone posts PM sent on one of my ads and asks for like $50 off on a $500-ish item, I may take it 9/10 and mark it SPM.

Again, maybe it's just a matter of perspective to each member.

I assumed early on here that "PM sent" is way of pissing on thier territory ( even though the item is not theirs ) and to deter other buyers.
Yet 98% of the folks who put "PM sent" or comment on my ad never actually end up buying, trading, or offering an item on my trade list.

For me a "PM sent" means nothing and has no merit.

Don't know about Huffdaddy, but if your Revo is $800 at Retail, a $600 offer is 75% of that, so NOT a "Lowball Offer" in my book--Altho' it would take some GUTS to make such an offer--LOL!....mikey357

takes more guts to post a used gun for more than retail and say you know it's more than retail but you aren't paying sales tax so it's a good deal :)

I agree.
And 9/10 I'm negotiable to that extent as well...
And you're also right about the perspective thing...I know my own thoughts about it have evolved since I've been on here (less than two years total), so others most likely will too.

If I like the price and I put PM sent in your ad it is because I sent you a PM about setting up a Meet to get Said item from you.
But that comes from Other Forums I belong to that if you put I will take it I the ad you got it.
ODT has gotten far from that where you can post I will take it and that be it.
So I still use the PM sent in the ad to let you know I want it (guess I am old school).
