I quit hunting several years ago due to having hip and shoulder replaced, and spine fused, (damaged from a patrol car wreck in my LEO days) getting old is a bitch, now I just shoot various competitions, when I did hunt I carried my knife on my bely, nothing wring with a neck knife though just never had one to try.

Im only saying that also having a knife doesnt detract from having the gun. The idea that a knife isn't useful because you have a gun is short sighted.
