Project: Levergun

LOL! Yeah. Actually I dind't know I was even IN the 30-30 market till I had one. Then tripped over the other and suddenly I'm 30-30 ammo shopping. Still not sure what happened.

I'm thinking of having one cerakoted and seeing if I can strip/sand and refinish the wood without destroying the whole gun. I'm just SOOO talented y'unnerstand. LOL!

Here is a Model 94 I did a couple of weeks ago in Midnight Blue Cerakote. I was very surprised at how well this color simulates blueing!

Well, here's 10 coats of Ebony MinnWax. Now to find the TruOil.....

I'm liking the results there.

Most likely what I'll do is keep looking around until I can find a take down version of the BLR. Preferably one that's abused so I don't feel so bad about reworking it. I have another project that's currently on the back burner to build a 3" Model 12 S&W. I'm running into issues with dealing with the front sight as it's a pencil barrel. In the meantime I think I'll continue to get BLR magazines as I come across them. ;)

Three coats of TruOil, now waiting on the fourth to dry and I'll hit it with a little steel wool to matte the finish....while I was waiting, I went ahead and crowned (12 degree target) the barrel and reblued it with a little oxpho-blue from Brownells. I cleaned up the cut, but didnt try and smooth out the crown as much....I liked the contrast.
