Don't get me started about Wingate's Lunker Lodge. I always enjoyed hearing Jack tell stories about his life experiences. Like Jerry Clower, Jack's stories would make me laugh. I miss that old codger. He was a good man. Let me rephrase that. I meant to say that Jack was an extraordinary good man and gentleman.

Mr.Jack was a close friend of my Dad and our family. I spent many a summer weekend there swimming and fishing there at Wingate's Fish Camp, later to become Lunker Lodge, he passed just a couple years after my Dad. Those were the Day's!

Never have eaten a pickerel, but northern pike are EXCELLENT fried up over a campfire. Used to keep 'em for shore lunch when I fished up in Canada. Just have to fillet out the y-bones.

If you'll gash them like a sucker, you don't even have to take out those little bones. That is about the best eating fish in fresh water

It's a chain pickerel. There are no Pike's in the South.

Pickerel,Jack,redfin pike in North Carolina. Lots of them in Ga. Hiram creeks have a lot of them. Some big`uns in Lake Ramona,but it`s closed to fishing. Don`t bother asking. I usually catch them in grass right before dark. Tasty but full of bones.
