I grew up fishing but Im no avid fisherman. My fish identification abilities are pretty limited as a result. I reeled this in about an hour ago and put up a good fight for his size. Got some pretty good teeth on him too. Pictures arent the best either. View attachment 721360View attachment 721361

That's wild that it is in Dow. Add that to the answers when people ask what sucked their duckling under the water.

As already stated, Jack, or chain pikerel. Actually in most waters in Georgia. Used to catch 'em south of Macon on the Ocmulgee.

Yep, that is a chain pickerel.

Never have eaten a pickerel, but northern pike are EXCELLENT fried up over a campfire. Used to keep 'em for shore lunch when I fished up in Canada. Just have to fillet out the y-bones.

Thats a chain pickerel not pike

Chain Pickerel indeed. Caught a ton of them suckers in a beaver swamp in Paulding County when I was a kid. The State Record is 9#, 6oz.

Used to catch those (Many Moon's Ago) down at Jack Wingate's Fish Camp, Lake Seminole. The Bigger they get the better they Fight. We called them Jack or Pickerel.

Don't get me started about Wingate's Lunker Lodge. I always enjoyed hearing Jack tell stories about his life experiences. Like Jerry Clower, Jack's stories would make me laugh. I miss that old codger. He was a good man. Let me rephrase that. I meant to say that Jack was an extraordinary good man and gentleman.
