Get 2. A morakniv for the fish, an Esee 4, Gearcraft M1, or Ka-Bar Becker for the bigger stuff.

You can’t have too many knives.

They are great knives. I have bought a few of them that were broken at flea markets or yard sales and re-profiled them. As you said, they are easy to sharpen. I always soaked mine in warm vinegar to put a forced patina on them so they wouldn't rust.

I would recommend the Esee 4hm as a do all knife that you can buy off the shelf. It will hold up to chopping, as well as the general purpose camp stuff. A Mora is cheap enough to throw in a kit, but it won't be of much use for chopping.

I have done a class with the guys from Esee and they are all top notch guys. I would highly recommend any of their knives and/or classes as well.

If I had to chose one “end all be all” knife, it would be the ESEE 4.

Needing a good camping knife for my son. I see them priced all over the board. So what's a good knife and good steel. Will be used for just general utility work.
