How old is this kid? Another vote for a Mora. Love em. Cheap enough for a younger kid knife, but good enough to actually do something with.

Good question.Age has a lot to decide what knife.When the boys were young They got rambo survival knives because you know what 8 year olds do with a knife? They carve on trees, they dig holes in the dirt,they throw it and try to stick it up.Young ones wear one out. My youngest has a Schrade trapper in his pack, I gave him when he was 14.thats what he uses on deer. I could buy a lot of $7 knives instead of a lot 0f $185 knives

I would agree that “camp knife” means something different to just about everyone. Does that term mean “general use and cooking” or “general use and wood chopping”?
