I have until October to save for one for my 10th anniversary. Looking at ~$1,500-2,000 for a nice one. What would you get?

And please no “tHrEe rOcK IsLaNdS” answers. I want a nice one, but one I can shoot the **** out of.

There’s so many options and offshoots nowadays. If it were me, I’d save a little bit more and buy a stacatto. I’d rather shoot 9mm and get the capacity. If you want a more traditional 1911, I’m sure others will be able to help ya out.

Les Baer Custom is hard to beat… might be a little bit over budget though.
I've paid less than $1500 for all my Baers, but that was a while ago now. I vote them. I have one with 100k through it, another with 10k that was EDC for 6 years. Both going strong.

I'll third for Les Baer 1911's. Great for an out of the box shooter, I have only changed grips and been very happy with mine over the years.

Forgot about DW. Is colt still making good stuff? I know they used to be a household name but again, I’ve been out of it for a while. They have a lot of nice looking options in the price range

I shot with the Colt competition team and they weren’t shooting colts. I won’t buy one.
