Hunting season is almost over and my 300 BLK is going to be updated. Need some help....

I wouldn't cut a 1:8 twist barrel below 8.5". Every bullet deserves a full turn in the barrel.

Meh, I stabilize 300+gr 44mag bullets in a 1:20 twist with only 17" of barrel.

Its not how long its on the tracks, but if its moving fast enough forward and rotating fast enough. More time in the rifling beyond the fist few inches really isn't going to affect stability, it's the speed and rate of twist that should be the focus.

 Tell that to every handgun ever made.

Well I had a conversation with my 1911, but I'm not sure i got through to them.

If this is a hunting rig I wouldnt cut the barrel shorter, not sure what useable range you want it for but I would think you would be dropping below 100yd "good kill" velocity.

I definitely vote for the TJ rail, don't care for the quad rail crap, to me the tj rail gives you ergo of a free float tube with a few more options for attaching accessories.

The lack of a QD socket near the rear of the rail is pushing me away from the YHM. Not even sure where one could be added except maybe on the top rail which I'm not crazy about.
