Grill advise

I was in the sane position as you, but wanted a NG grill. Weber was my choice, well made, great support.

BGE all the way...

I am thinking of a big green egg, but I also need a gas grill for quick cooking....ie: not much prep time. Sometimes we decide to grill last minute. I will look up your suggestions.
I haven't had a gass grill for years and use my kamados (bge and kamado joe) a couple times a week. Takes about 10 minutes to get the egg ready vs 5 or so to preheat the gass grill. I just light it, prep the food and it's ready. It's hard to compare the versatility of a kamado to a gass grill but if you don't like cooking with charcoal it may not be for you. I do have a Webber gass grill that is eight years old that seams to be in good shape. I haven't used it in 6 years though

I am grill poor. I have a Big Green Egg, a SS propane from Costco and a Rec-tec pellet grill. I have had the Rec-tec for a couple of years and have used the BGE twice since getting it. I do everything from 27 hour briskets to burgers to reverse sear steaks and it does it all very, very well. I've had a couple of warranty issues but they have been quick to take care of me. They are based in Augusta.

Oh, and as far as pellets go they will give you a smokin' deal when you order your grill if you ask them. I've done a ton of research on pellets and there are plenty of guys who've switched to pellets marketed for heating. You can go online and read about the different manufacturers (many of which bag both $35 a bag "cooking" pellets and $6 a bag heating pellets on the same line). I split a pallet of Tractor Supply pellets made by Ozark last year. We paid $255/ton (50 40lb bags).
