I'm also pretty partial to my 10-22 and my dads old 9 shot 22lr cowboy action pistol.
HHMM how about the ole flintlock Kentucky Rifle and a Sea Service Pistol.
Or perhaps a big ole Hawken Rifle with a Hawken Pistol.

I like a 12ga 870 wingmaster with 30" full choke and fnh 5.7x28 pistol with 4# trigger plus plenty of 12ga shells in all types for hunting and defense then at least 2000 rd of 5.7 ammo in the 40gr balastic tip "blue" v-max ---with this combo you ate set to eat and cover your retreat as well--most engagmentds would be close enough for shotgun but the 5.7 will give pause to consider just how bad you are wanted by your enemies at ranges of 300yd and better if need be and a hell of a lot lighter than packing an AR +12ga and shells while hunting.
Colt 6721 and a Sig 229 SCT in 9mm.
