Do you think marijuana will be legalized nationwide? If so, how long will it take?

Dude you're just grasping. Employers will still drug test and can set policies that they don't hire drug users same as today.

And all of this is irrelevant anyways. Do you want the government to imprison/fine/punish people for possessing a herb? Yes or no?
You and I both know it's not that simple. Your question is the same as asking me if I want the government to to imprison/fine/punish people for possessing a weapon. That "weapon" could range from a knife to a nuclear bomb to a shrink ray. There will be yes and no answers to this, especially in regards to the possession of a shrink ray and who is allowed to possess it.

Your herb reference can range from thyme to weed to khat. To that, my answers will range from yes to no as all of these affect people in different ways and I don't feel punishments often fit the crimes.

It's been fun circling the drain in this subject, but I know when I need to stand back and wash my hands of it. Thanks for the conversation.

It is that simple, you either believe in personal freedom or you don't. You either believe that people are free to make their own choices or you believe that's a role best left to government. If you complicate it more than that you've fallen into the socialist trap of putting society as a whole above the freedoms of the individual.

All of these arguments about legalization leading to massive numbers of people suddenly driving/working while high are pretty irrational. Do you think that just because it is legal that everyone is going to be getting stoned 24/7? I wish yall could just go back in time to the early 1900's and have a circle jerk with the T-totalers. At least back then people had enough common sense to realize that prohibition was a massive failure within a decade. We have been losing the war on cannabis in every way imaginable for 82yrs and apparently we still haven't learned how to stop beating our heads against the wall.

i was listening to a leo from Colorado talk about he effects the legalized marijuana has on the local area, he said that the local homeless population has increased from folks moving there just to score legal marijuana and beggars are getting more aggressive to but the drug.

it's a sad state of affairs that humans do not know how to use anythign in moderation sometimes.

i do believe legitimate medical illness that can be treated with specific doses of marijuana should be legal, not like the guy from the movie due date though
I grew up not too far from Denver. In wheat Ridge. And went to Denver to visit family and friends a couple months back. I couldn't believe the SH#& Hole Denver has turned into. I stayed at one of the best hotels downtown. Every time I stepped out of the hotel, I was hounded buy beggars wreaking of pot. If its medical, I can see the uses. But I damn sure didn't see the benefit of "recreational" while I was there.
On the other hand, this is coming from someone who drinks tequila like a religious rite! :very_drunk:

One of my biggest problems with pot being illegal is that it allows the DEA to go on even more of a power trip. Yep, don't spend that money for resources for locating violent criminals. Instead, use it to break into Bubba's house because he's growing *gasp* 6 pot plants.

These threads always give me a laugh. Either way the tax dollars brought in from Colorado alone are worth looking at. It's clearly bigger than supply and demand.

Surprising comment from a supposed professional driver..
I don't personally want to share the road around any 2 ton vehicle traveling at interstate speeds when the driver has had impairing drugs of ANY kind..
You can 'suppose' all you want. I've been driving since I got out of the Navy back in '91. I would rather have all drivers drive sober and pay attention to the road, but as the old saying goes "Wish in one hand and crap in the other: see which one fills up first."
I would feel safer if I knew the other driver had smoked marijuana rather than had too much to drink and got behind the wheel.
