Now that you mention it I'm thinking there probably should be a minimum wage requirement for buying a 1911. I was thinking 35 but then again... 40 is probably a safer bet.I blame those on all these man buns who can't drive a 5 speed.

I know that story WELL. Believe it or not my first 1911 was a blued Colt Series 80. Still the only Colt I ever owned AND... it already had the mark of the idiot when I got it.Minimum wage kept me from buying a lot of stuff back in the day!
at least you know it's been cleanedDon't buy a 1911 if you can't put it back together without doing this to it.
Hmm, 50 might be a better bet......Now that you mention it I'm thinking there probably should be a minimum wage requirement for buying a 1911. I was thinking 35 but then again... 40 is probably a safer bet.
One of my bosses bought an ATI full size 1911 during Covid and didn't know how to take it apart. When I showed him how and told him to be very careful so he didn't wind up with the " Idiot Mark" he had no idea what that was. So then he had to Google it and of course he saw 2 or 3 pages of images just like this one.
I can't argue that point. It seems odd to discuss it today with Mr. Glock dying earlier. So what does one thing have to do with the other? Well...when I (or maybe I should say "We" ) were growing up THE tactical pistol was the 1911. The Hi Power was a close second but the 1911 was IT. Kinda like the tactical rifle was the M1 Carbine. Or at least it was for ME and all my friends. And then came the G17 back around 84 or 85. Still remember the first ads I saw for them in The Shotgun News.Hmm, 50 might be a better bet......
The one my boss bought had a comp on the end that replaced the barrel bushing. It was SO tight I couldn't get it out. So... I had to break the pistol down the wrong way by pulling the slide stop and letting the spring fly out . And reassembly wasn't much better.Funny, during covid, my boss got his first 1911, and we were on Zoom so I can walk him through putting his 1911 back together so he would not get the idiot scratch.
