Best Survial Knife (A Must Have!)

I haven't handled one and this is more along the lines of what I was wanting to hear...mostly about the weight in the hand from a user perspective....thanks for the info.

The 4" is heavier maily because it is thicker, 0.188" compared to 0.125" with the 3". Otherwise, not much difference except for a glass-breaker on the handle for the 3," which I don't like anyway. ( I have a Scrapivore because the handle was a little longer than the Izula, but I hate the pry-bar thing on the handle.)

You're welcome! They all have big, bulky, squarish handles. I have big hands, and that is how I like them, easy to grip, even with freezing fingers or gloves on. My EESE-5 has a divit in the handle for use as the bearing block with a bow drill. Its a nifty feature; I don't think the shorter blades have it.

Ontario knives still makes the RAT series of knives (RC-#), since EESE parted ways with them (hence the name change to EESE). They are still good knives, but EESE doesn't cover them with their lifetime warranty.

Corwin: thanks for the comment about the Izula II. I didn't realize the handle is a full 1/2" longer, that makes a big difference.

This is a tough one... I have a spec plus I bought in the 80s that is still top notch but I'v had this cold steel bushman since the 90s ind for a true survival knife you can't beat it. Great knife, good steel and is made to also be a spear....
