Wow! This question could be answered many times. Here is my contribution: 7mm-08 of any brand and 243 in any brand. All you need in GA and AL. Both have the ability for an effective long shot these two states up to (150yds)

What ever gun you can practice with a lot and spend money on a good scope. But practice practice practice---- 7.62x39 and 308 have reasonably affordable practice ammmo availability

me too with a Win model 70 in 270 but 308's are my thing,
