Atlanta Pro Gun Rally 4/14 EDIT: Permit pulled, legal rally is off...

I understand that The organizer Chris Hill has a band called Confederate Celtic scheduled to play. (Why is there a band?)Between that and the fact that on the organizing Facebook page Mr.Hill told everyone to disregard me when I voiced the opinion that the open carry of rifles was going to be counterproductive. Leads me to worry that this may not go well.
If what was said about no permit without the GSP is correct. And if the GSP requirements are consistent with other rallies that have been held holding a rally with no permit and causing a disturbance makes us the same as aftifa and will be headline news for a month.
If people feel like they just have to have a rally.These rallies should have had more time to organize. And local organizations like Georgia Carry should have been approached to organize it not the leader of a 3% group who is advocating open carry of rifles and arranging entertainment (again why is there a band?) that will stir controversy.
Everyone knows it does not matter what happens at a rally only how the media covers it. They will run clips of angry white men in full kit carrying rifles and waving Confederate flags. Even if there is only one.
Rallies are a propaganda tool used to create an emotional reaction and call to action. We do not need to make an emotional appeal. We have reason and law on our side. We have had our victories in the courts and the ballot box. Rallies are just an opportunity to make a mistake.
I hope I am proved wrong.

A wild, disorganized mob of gun carrying wild-eyed fanatics, who need to be disarmed ASAP, and maybe locked up for a while.

The group organizing this is called The National Constitutional Coalition of Patriotic Americans (NCCPA). How much you want to bet the media latches on to the similarity to NAACP and makes it all about race? At any rate, the sketchiness of this "rally" seems to counterproductive to the real cause we all feel strongly about. It will be interesting to watch the news reports afterwards. Best of luck to all who attend.

Race and our Confederate flag shouldn't have any thing to do with this.

In some ways, I think we have a bunch of dumb @$$ people on our side who with their political ignorance will do tons to accidentally help the Left, and hurt our Right.

Well my decision to attend or not has been made for me. I am going to be at work. Everything I have said I still stand by. No permit no rally. Rallys are only useful to stir emotion in this case it stirs the wrong sides emotion.

LOL, I've met Bob a few times and had some good conversation. If he ever owned a gold asshole I'm certain it would have been surgically removed and sold for scrap in 2011 when gold hit $1,900 per ounce.

MY COMMENT: And that's sad, because all able-bodied male citizens aged 17-45 are already IN the "unorganized militia" under federal law.

Furthermore, I think the idea of armed and equipped (radios, camping gear, hand tools, other things besides just weapons) local militias to AID and SERVE UNDER the direction of local law enforcement or elected officials in times of danger or disaster are a great idea.

Everybody should be in such a militia, and there should be no gender qualification or age cut-off for that militia. If a 58 year old grandma can hack it, let her in and assign her a role / MOS that fits her interests and skill set.

Problem is.. this event and militia shouldn't be in any way combined. The mere talk of militia changes the conversation from discussion of constitutional rights to enforcement of constitutional rights. This is leading in the wrong direction.

No matter how well we decent people try to present ourselves, the Leftist Lying Democrat Socialist will always find a way to deceive the public and spin the story in a way to further their agenda.

I guarantee you they are planning how to turn it in their favor.

Our vote, and having good conversation with friends, neighbors, and family would go farther in my opinion. I'm hoping for the best Sat.

It only works because we, as gun owners and responsible citizens, allow it to work by letting them control the conversation. After everything I've read I'm not going to the rally but we need to be doing a much better job controlling the conversation that is heard by the public at large. We are failing and allowing them to win. This whole "continue to cast my vote between the lesser of 2 evil candidates we are presented with and preach to the choir of family and friends that for the most part probably already agree with us has been proven to be an ineffective strategy in past years. If it was effective we wouldn't be in this position now. It's time to adapt and overcome the strategies being employed against us. If we don't then what we get is our own damn fault. I'm to blame too. I donate money, join organizations, talk to anyone who will listen, vote in every election local and up, and exercise my rights daily. All strategies that have been proven to be ineffective. Wish there was something else that I could do that was within my capabilities. Keeping an eye out for an opportunity. Unfortunately, this rally doesn't seem to be it.

We should all be on the phone Friday calling our representatives and state senators. Shutting down their communication boards would be a positive way to get attention.

If someone can post all names and numbers of who we can call, and the numbers that actually work, would be very helpful.
