Atlanta Pro Gun Rally 4/14 EDIT: Permit pulled, legal rally is off...

We should all be on the phone Friday calling our representatives and state senators. Shutting down their communication boards would be a positive way to get attention.

If someone can post all names and numbers of who we can call, and the numbers that actually work, would be very helpful.

Yet another ineffective strategy. I dutifully contact my reps. I hasn't and wont do any good. None of them care or are willing to go beyond talking points and the ones that do care (if they truly exist) have their hands tied. Expecting government to fix this is a non starter. We may have a slim chance of going through the judicial system with a strong enough case but I doubt it. No, we need to control the public conversation. At least enough to fight back against the left (and right) monopoly on it. We need to make our voices heard, en mass, in a way that garners public support. At this point that's the only card worth going for because none of our other cards mean squat without it and that's the hand the other side is winning with.

I'm getting a bad feeling about this. I'm afraid that a bunch of nut jobs are going to show up just to show off just because they can and that will be bad for the cause all the way around. The media will have a feeding frenzy, reasonable people will get turned off, if they don't have a permit it's not a lawful protest. And my biggest concern now is counter protesters will show up specifically to pick a fight and it sounds like some folks are going that can be easily baited and are perhaps looking for a fight. This could get real ugly real quick.

Calls always make a difference. Always. I've followed politics and various political issues across the board for 30 yrs. A mass protest has more of a chance of upsetting the apple cart more than sweetening the pie.

Too many on our side have high emotional feelings coupled with political ignorance and your thinking. It will spell disaster for our cause. The only way it would work would be for the protest to be quite, no visible firearms or upsetting signs of any kind. All use of that is the ignorance on our side that will backfire and be used against us even if everything ends peacefully. The media, leftist, facist commie socialist pigs, and fearful of guns ignorant majority public will see most of what we would do as a reason to ban our ARs and high cap mags first, then later semi-auto weapons which is pretty much everything.

Sadly, most on our side simply don't have the political understanding to win over the tactics and agenda of the left. All we can do is call them, wasting their energy and jamming up their switchboard, coupled with peaceful soft very non-violent quite protest. Its the opposite of what we would think we should do that will work in our favor with the public and politicians.

You are correct here. "in a way that garners support." I think if we had an organized presentation that could be presented to groups or set up town hall style with well presented information delivered by rational well spoken presenters we could change some minds. Put together lots of these all across the country not gathering pro gun people together but gather small groups 20-30 max of people on the fence about or in direct opposition to gun rights. keeping it small means not worth protesters or media showing up.
