The 30 days thing is a myth. Temporary tags are good for 30 days, but only dealers get those. You can't just sharpie a date on a piece of cardboard and ride out like so many people do. If you have insurance and a bill of sale, you'll be fine.

7 days when purchased from an individual (in or out of state), 30 days from a dealer or if you just moved to GA. Keep your BOS with you, but it won't stop an ahole cop from citing you. Luckily, ahole cops are rare. I keed, I keed.
