Few if any of them would be exposed to that footnote. None of them will be able to make the cognitive leap to appreciate it. They will however double down on the hope that The State will protect them and so there is no need to mere citizens to possess those dangerous weapon things.

The powers that be don't want to admit that this is a crusade, perhaps the last crusade. The western way of life is under attack and if we don't stand against the onslaught then our civilization will fall.
