Why are AKs so expensive now?

Are DPMS quality?
All major points have been covered.
You can find an occasional imported AK for under $1000. Like a WASR 10.
$1,800-$2500 models.....
When was the last time a FIME Vepr was imported? 2016?
SGL? 2015? 2014?
Arsenal Bulgaria has Middle East contracts. US market is a secondary market for them. They are coming in a bit , but... 107FRs are gone forever.
If it were not for ZPAPs and WBP, US would not have any new better quality AKMs coming in.
Russian rifles were produced at a lower cost and imported in larger quantaties than anyone else's. Competition is gone. Production costs are up, even overseas (Poland and Bulgaria are parts of EU). Prices are up.

They are rebadged PSA guns. PSA bought DPMS. Not an AK expert but I have heard a lot of good things about PSA AKs.
DPMS are US made rifles. Not imported. I will take WBP any time of the day over any other AKM on the market today.
Dumb question…what’s a WBP? I really like krebs customs. If I were to get my first AK that would probably be it. I know next to nothing about AKs.
