When is the best time to buy a gun? Now... Well I've never known a time I didn't buy guns but right now shops are loaded, pawn shops have shelves slap full of semi used stuff that folks went nuts over buying when the money was free. Now the chickens have come to roost and they are off loading them for pennies on the dollar. I monitor lots of auction sites and have been seeing a lot of older guns selling for way below "their value" or what I perceive as the value.
I've picked up a couple of old bolt rifles that I've always thought, If I found it cheap enough, I would buy. I love talking to older gun guys who lament about " Them Marlins are selling for $800 now, heck I paid $89 for them at Treasure Island back in 1972. I tell them how many days did it take to make $89 back in 1972? A week and a half? If you calculate what $89 equaled to today its nearly $700. add a Tasco scope from the period and you're well near what one sells for now.
