Who makes a good fast knife sharpner?

+1 for the Lansky I've had one for 20+ years and has always put a good edge on a knife.

Just get a Lanksy. Easy to use, last forever and very affordable. Been using them for close to 15 years.

Thanks everyone for your information. I will consider all of it and get me a sharpener. Then on a good rainy day I will go to the basement and go to work on that box full of dull blades that has grown over the years.

A good, fast sharpener on a budget. I've had mine for more than 10 years and it's still going strong. If you've got a black-coated blade, this won't scratch it. And it can sharpen even the super steels in less than 20 strokes per side. Less than 20 bucks most anywhere you find it.

Gotta put in a plug for Lansky... And Academy puts them on sale for around $20. There is a much more expensive set that has diamond coated stones... But IMHO the diamond stones aren't worth the cost.

Another for Lansky here. I have others...but always come to it for a serious edge. Some of the "easier to use" do get a sharp edge, but are actually removing steel. After awhile, it will effect the profile.
