What would you do about a blown engine

A friend has a 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a badly knocking engine. He's going to sell it. Would you sell it as is or would you put a short block in it first?

5.7 around 100k miles. Ok condition. Could probably make a bit with a new engine. He wants to clear 2k either way.

You can drop in a rebuilt engine for about 4k. Less if you buy a short block and do the work yourself. Its worth about 12k and that will go down even more once the 2022’s come out.

Chrysler products have cr@ppy electronics. So it really isn’t a forever car. Flippers will offer you 1/2 of your asking price regardless so price accordingly.
