i know that feeling. But i just answered a post on here about knife sharpening, although as a rule of thumb you would think most would know how to do this, but as i have learned some don't. a good sharp knife will always be handy nomatter what. I do believe that we would need to be able to give a demostration for those not aware of things of this nature. what do ya'll think?

Thats the reason this thread was started, to share knowledge & learn from those who have found out.
i carry this knife sharpener but a stone&strap will always be better, I don't like 3stones&a strap in my pocket. Lol this is a 3to6 stroke good sharp edge item. It has carbide&ceramic+diamond hone &is always with me. I admit I am a freak, unless in courthouse or airport I carry 6 blades on average

its 3"x1" and very light weight

Great Idea! Ive learned how to use traditional oil and stone method years ago I think I could pick it right back up? I love this style, I don't think many people even know about it http://theblocksharpener.com/ I carry this in my bob its super light, compact and the simplist sharpening method ive seen.

I used to have one of those, I think or maybe it was ceramic sticks. Hmmm not sure but I liked it. But either way u have the right idea -the biggest bang for the weight & size-, that's why I go with a heavy machete over 1 of my hatches.this is my hatchet, shovel&pick
