This is the second event today. Should probably check space weather and monitor for bad stuff

ah sure. sorry was parked in the truck.

So there have been 2 solar flares this morning.

I don't remember the last time there were two. I watch this stuff, but I am no astronomy buff, so it may be common.

They don't seem too strong today. which is good. although there was an X2.2 rated flare in March:

They can cause voltage problems, satellite issues, HF radio to stop working, all the way to (extreme scenario here) dropping the entire power grid and having an EMP effect.

so basically, worst case scenario, they can be like an EMP or worse (depending on what you read/believe) BUT the nice thing about them, is that we can see them coming and have email alerts about them.

I gotcha. Thanks for the info. This is intriguing, I just wish I had the time to study it.

so I was not toallt correct. There have been 3 today, but they are not really "weak" they are M-class. which actually has some ass behind it. Definitely not grid dropping, but not week.

here is a tally of the flares:

M is pretty decent sized flare that can have effects on earth.
X is a big Mamma Jamma
X2+ is like "Holy ****!"
