Service station scam.....

The women with the kids trailing behind are the worst.
Usually in a Walmart parking lot.
Oh, the tales of woe and horror.
Usually need cash for gas because have to get... kids to school, to new job just started, to visit sick/dying relative...

Could have told him you are also scheduled for the same surgery on the same day, maybe we could talk about it more in recovery :becky:

When I was still driving the roads I’d stop in Wildwood, Fl. At the T/A truck stop. While I was walking in once a woman stopped me and started crying about having no money, no gas, no home. I told her I wasn’t going to give her any cash, but if she’d pull over to a pump, I’d throw in $25 of gas to get her down the road. She came around the front pumps with this old beat up Caddy coupe Deville, and I pumped in exactly $1.34 before the pump shut off automatically because the tank was already full. I told her you got to be shi**ng me and told her to take a hike. When I came back out, there she was again, trying to con another trucker. I walked into the conversation and told the guy he was getting conned, and she walked away. I went back inside and told the Manager she was out there and what had happened, and wondered about the no solicitation policy at the T/A. He actually called the cops, and they escorted her off the property. 2 weeks later, and there she was again, and again I told the manager, and again she got thrown out. That was the last time I ever gave anyone a nickel of my hard earned money, and to this day if anyone asks for a handout, I stop them the second they start with the hard luck story and tell them to f**k off.

Yeah.. I bought a woman with a carload of little kids gas for her car and even food and drinks for her kids on a hot day..she asked for my help and I gave her some.

If you can give and if you want to, then do it..no big deal.

But if the OP is a former LEO I recommend he switch from the Sig pistol he "had his hand on" in his pocket to MACE..its Non-Lethal and benefit of watching them cry tears in pain..Winning.
That didn’t happen to be at Lowes in Cumming was it???
Same situation with me. Told her to pull in to the Race Track station right next to Lowe’s and I bought her fuel and drinks also for the kids. I guess I’m a softee when I see kids involved

I was coming home from the bass pro one morning, I believe it was last year, it was very cold. This older black man came up to me as I got gas asking for money so he could get something warm to drink, it was at the race trac off 316 and 20, I told him to go over to the Hardee's and ill be there in a minute, I told him to order whatever he wanted, he was very polite and asked if he could have 2 sausage biscuits, I told him to get whatever he wanted, once he got done ordering I went ahead and paid for 3 extra coffees for him. He told me he got out of jail and had nothing, no family and barely any clothes on. He didn't walk away when I said no to giving him money but would buy him food, so after I paid for his meal I gave him the rest of the $20 and told him to stay warm. And I left. Some really do need the help and some are just to get things for free.

I especially hate when they come up to me with my kids in the car, they usually see something laying in the open that makes them turn away before giving me a sob story.

If I offer food and they accept, I go ahead and get them food. If cash is requested or I detect scammers, I tell them to F off.

Had a meth head looking guy pull up at gas pump beside me at Pilot off I-75 in Warners Robins last weekend. I had just finished getting gas when they pulled up, woman driving, guy gets out approaches my truck, I had already gotten back in and cranked it up. I have no idea what he was asking for other I assumed it was money. He tried to talk to me despite the fact that my window was up and my truck was running. I put my pistol in my lap, but since he wasnt in the way, I just put the truck in gear and drove away.

I was still in college a hundred years ago with some friends in the French Quarter and a rough looking dude asked me and my friends for money. I wasn't going to give him anything but asked him "What are you going to do with it?" He looked at me for a second and said "I'm not going to lie, I'm going to buy a drink." I said "Thanks for being honest, it's on me." We had a drink together and a chat. Different times.
