Nothing that fancy. Savage Thophy model in .243 Worked well for me.
Interested in how well the proof grendel barrel will group. I've always wanted one but could never justify it back when you could get a BA one for reasonable money.

I bought a "varmint rifle" 30 years ago, but never hunted varmints or predators with it.
It's been a range toy (really, more of a safe queen, but unintentionally so) all this time.
Remington 700 heavy barrel varmint special, 2.5 lb. trigger pull,
in .223 Rem, with a slow twist (I think I:12) barrel.
Works best with 45-55 grain projectiles. Groups open up a lot with 62 grain pills,
and 77gr. long range ammo tumbles and keyholes.
Not my pic, but my gun does look exactly like that. Well, not exactly because I think my butt plate is solid black plastic, not energy-absorbing rubber.
