Why all the butter? Isn't chuck roast like 40% fat?? There are a lot of these throw everything in a pot "recipes", haven't seen one with butter though. Let us know how it comes out but I have to imagine it will be a soupy, greasy mess.

Mississippi Roast, made it a couple weeks ago using a recipe that was in AJC......it was delicious. The recipe I used didn't call for the packets of dressing and gravy, less sodium for us with health concerns (old folks) lol

No idea. Just trying out what the recipe called for.

the butter helps make the gravy, and it also is great for leaner cuts of meat (round, etc)
