Magazine Drilling

I tried 3 of these with same results. Only 2 of these bits were ever used as far as I can tell or not used enough to matter.

Every bit just spins with no Bite. I believe its a matter of pressure. I am only putting mild pressure against it for fear of deforming the mag so I think the fix is finding some scrap to stick inside to support putting more pressure on it.

You are correct, it will take quit a bit of pressure to get the bit to bite.

Yes as I stated earlier smaller bit. Try 1/8 to start the hole then move to a 1/4 then step up to a 3/8 it will make your life so much easier. Buy black harden metal cutting drill bits. Also make sure the drill is set to a very slow speed

Havent tried black bits. Everyone recommended cobalt bits. I do think starting off with a smaller bit will work better, Just need to put more pressure on it. even the smallest bit just spins with no bite.

Thanks for all the feedback and info. I just need to find something to fit it pretty snug. Will look weird in Lowes shoving wood into the bottom of a mag.
