Is a tax stamp needed for this? Or is it legal as it sits?

15” sawed off shotgun but the stock has been chopped and made into a pistol grip.

I tried looking on the internet but can’t really find much. Any links appreciated.

Picture is just a similar looking gun and not the one in question.

It's a "SBS" -- short barreled shotgun-- since it was designed to be fired from the shoulder with the original stock.
Once a gun is made as a shotgun, it cannot be a non-NFA firearm.

Twist on facts:
IF the factory had built it in this configuration and the gun in question never had a shoulder stock and was never intended to be fired from the shoulder,
then this would be an AOW because of its size is overall length is less than 26 inches therefore it is a concealable firearm.
AOW = Any Other Weapon, another classification of restricted guns under the national firearms act.

Yeah, someone asked where to buy big pbc and caps. I said I don't know because I'm going to bleed.

P.S. You can't make an illegally-chopped weapon into a legal one by filling out a Form and paying the NFA tax.
(I mean if it's not already registered with the NFA, it is non-transferable.
It is contraband and must be destroyed.)

Thanks. I inherited it and wanted to keep it for sentimental reasons. I guess it’s getting destroyed.
