Illinois gun laws

I thought Illinois had very strict gun laws, this guy may have thought he was above the law. How do you just forget you are carrying a firearm, especially in an airport? What are your thoughts?

I was recently told,by a retired Ill.LEO that it is inevitable that Ill.will have concealed carry at some point.Some jurisdictions there currently refuse to prosecute for carrying handguns.I predict that a good lawyer will get the guy off.In this case,I hope he gets off,politician or not.

IL has sort of a loophole for CCW that I've read about. Some people put a pistol and a seperate magazine in a waistpack. The waistpack is sort of defined as a "container". As it is legal to transport a pistol with the magazine out in a container.

The amazing this is not that he was carrying a gun in the airport. The amazing thing is that he is an Illinois democrat with a gun!
