I always take and drill a hole where the vent should be and fish me a valve stem up through it. Take the valve core out and now just loosen the cap for it to vent.

Just be sure to use a metal valve stem and not a rubber one.

I guess I'm an OUTLAW REBEL...I use an old milk jug and a funnel....milk jug is free once you drink the milk and everyone has a funnel,if not cut the top out of a coke bottle....o no hope I didn't just incriminate myself

You can buy the old school yellow vents off ebay or amazon. 10 bucks for a handful of them. 1/2 inch hole in top of gas can, and done.
