I got a little curious and I just wanted to see what it felt like...don't judge me

The appeal was the 158 grain +p semi jacketed hollow point ammo for them. They shoot to point of aim with little effort and hit hard when they get there. You could practice with 158 grain lead round nose. Very low recoil with all steel revolvers.

The 9 mm craze took over and the 158 grain ammo became hard to impossible to find . They started dropping the bullet weight to 110 and 125 grain so it could mimic a 9 mm. My truck gun is a 4 inch barrel Ruger Security Six 357 mag loaded with full house 158 grain semi jacketed hollow points.

This old Charter with the mis-matched S&W Tyler t-grip is a good shooter (It replaced the one I lost in divorce #2). I wouldn’t be embarrassed to carry it (and sometimes do).View attachment 3878948
Here is my other Charter. Looks just like the one in your pic. In one pic it's next to my old model Rossi M68. Now I will be the first to admit that the Rossi is probably the better quality higher fit and finish gun. But I just love these Charters. In one pic you can see the wear line on the cylinder where it sat for years on top of a fridge.

You will be ok. You will find the j frame just draws well. I find the lcp too small for me to get a good grip. The revolver grip when drawn from a pocket is just rock solid. You can remove your ammo and dry fire practice daily and you don’t have to worry about setback. You can sling a 148 or 158 grain pill instead of a 90-100. You will never eject the magazine from your j frame accidentally in your pocket.
