Ford also built the Torino Talledega and Mercury Cyclone Spoiler to homologate them for nascar.

Plus the Ford GT40 Mark IIIs were "production" cars (meaning 7 of them!) for homologation purposes, so they could compete at Le Mans, Sebring and Daytona. I have road tests from 1966 that said there were several compromises made to meet the racing rulebook and still be street legal.

and Chevy did the same thing with the 1986 Monte Carlo Aerocoupe.... so they could try and catch Bill Elliot at Daytona and Talledega
