Help with Little Ocmulgee St Park in McRae fishing

My family is planning a fishing trip to this park at the end of April. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what we can expect or maybe what baits we should bring? Maybe even best spots on the lake to fish. What species we should target? We're going in blind. Any help would be greatly appreciatted.

Watch out for alligators. Boat ramps and the fishing pier is where I saw the most.

Gators are OK. They don't bother me.

expect quiet, really nice quiet. i haven't fished it in 40 years but nice crappy and bass back then. World record bass roadside sign used to be on the road down from the park.

Don't overlook the Little Ocmulgee River. If you can hit it when the redbreast are biting, more fun than the law allows. Also lots of small cats.

Several years back an old friend of mine guided fishing at that lake and others. Pretty sure he no longer does but he may know someone if your interested.

Oh, Man! Flashback to some great times.

I used to hit the shoals in the Ocmulgee below Hwy 16 for redbreast with ultralight and fly rod. There were many 100 plus fish days. Insane action!
