I have a small generator for use only to run my heater. I replaced the 110V blower fan/circuitry power switch with a Double pole/Double throw switch to completely isolate the power path to the heater unit. I then installed a back feed receptacle between the DP/DT switch and the heater. Then I made an appropriate length double male power cord so the generator could plug in to the backfeed receptacle. It's all manual but it will heat the house on a cold day during a power outage..

Boy oh boy I have been thinking about generators/ solar gens today . Glad we ain’t in Texas . I can’t imagine living out there being unprepared for crazy weather .
