I don't like the handguard of the K, so I got the regular full size Mp5. I'm getting it as a pistol so I can get possession of it NOW. I will form 1 it and slap on the retractable stock when it gets approved. I will get it threaded also. I am getting it built from DJ Getz Firearms. Hes a guy off HKPro. He was the only guy who was taking orders, Dakota hadn't been taking orders since last year or so. I've tried to get Dakota to build me one but hes still building from last his last batch.

My goal is to get it as CLOSE AS MP5N. My model is the fullsize 89. I paid a little extra to have German parts!

What you think about yours?

DJ is awesome and does use true German parts! I've spoke with him before and truly a great guy! You'll like your build from him! Plus if you have any questions, he is very knowledgable!

AS Juston has said, yes you can buy the sears and parts pretty readily, and legally. BUT they will not fit into a semi atuo without modification. M16 sears won't fit in an AR lower unless you drill out the hole above the selector, and mill around it if its a high shelf. HK's need full auto bolts and the shelf he is talking about. Hence you can own the parts legally, because you must modify a gun to have them fit. Once you get to modifying them without an 02SOT, then you are breaking the law. Its not as easy as just buying the sear from brownells and putting it in your AR.

There ARE registered drop in sears, lightning links, HK sears, hk trigger packs, etc. but those are different.

ETA - DONT go out and buy a bunch of FA parts for a semi gun you own. You are asking for trouble.

But if you do...bury them in an underground vault for when the zomnies come! HAHAHA

So basically you're saying that the parts distributor such as HKparts or HKspecialist is breaking the law as well by having them and selling them on their websites?

Depends on several things. If you're talking about Pre-86 transferable weapons, the ATF classifies some "parts" as machine guns. As a regular non-SOT dude, you can't own anything that isn't registered / transferable, legally. Each weapon has different parts that are regulated. For example, some machine guns have the left side plate (WTF) classified as machine guns by the ATF. Other weapons have just the upper, just the lower, just the trigger pack, just the sear, etc.

You can buy sears for other weapons legally without a stamp, it just depends on which weapon. Consult the ATF NFA manual for which weapons.
